For law firms
AI readiness assessment
This assessment shows how ready your firm's people are to use AI. Your staff answer a short private survey, and their answers become a report for your firm. We review each report before it is released to you.
- I have an access code
Start here to set your firm up. It takes about ten minutes and nothing is saved until you finish.
No access code yet? Use Request access and someone will be in touch.
- Request access
Tell us your name, your work email and your firm, and someone will be in touch about getting started.
- I already set my firm up
Sign in to add people, send the survey, and read your report. We email you a link rather than asking for a password.
If you were asked to answer the survey, use the personal link in your invitation email. There is nothing to sign in to.
How it works
Your firm decides who takes part and when the survey closes. We prepare the report and review it before it is released to you.
Set your firm up
Enter your access code, then sign in with a link sent to your email. A checklist in the portal shows what is left to do.
Send the survey
Send your staff the short announcement the portal writes for you, then send the invitations. Each person gets their own link, and reminders go out on their own.
Your staff answer
The survey takes about 12 minutes. You can see who has finished, and never what anyone said.
Read the report, and talk it through if you'd like
After the survey closes, we check the responses and review the report before releasing it to you. If you'd like, we can then go through it with you in a review session.
If you are setting your firm up
One person at the firm runs the assessment from the portal. Nothing goes to your staff until you press send. The checklist asks for:
- A few questions about your firm, such as its size and the systems it uses.
- A list of the people taking part, with each person's name, work email and team. A template is there to fill in.
- A closing date. The survey stops taking answers at the end of that day.
- A look at the survey exactly as your staff will see it. Nothing you enter there is kept.
- The messages to send your staff before the invitations go out.
- Optional: the usage report from Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or another AI tool, if your firm uses one, as a CSV file. We use it if you book a review session.
While the survey is open, you see who has finished, team by team, and can remind everyone who has not. If people need more time, push the closing date back.
If you have been asked to answer
The survey takes about 12 minutes and works on a phone. Your answers save as you go, so you can stop and come back to the same link.
Some questions ask how you would handle a real piece of work, and a few ask for a short written answer.
Your link is personal to you, so please do not forward it.
Private, and never a performance rating
Nobody at your firm sees an individual's answers. The firm sees who has finished the survey, and results only for groups of 5 or more people, so no figure can be traced back to a person.
We keep each person's answers with their name so we can check them and prepare the report. We never share them with your firm.
The report shows where training and support will help most. It does not rate anyone's performance.
What your firm gets
A report for the whole firm, which you read in the portal and can download as a PDF. It covers:
- A short summary of where the firm stands, with a score for each area the assessment measures
- A chart placing everyone who answered on two of those areas, with no names on it
- Each area in more detail, with how many people answered
- What is already working, and the colleagues people named as the most advanced AI users and as the most helpful
- What is holding people back, and where people want help
- Results for each team where at least 5 people answered
- How every number was worked out
If fewer than 5 people take part, no figure can be shown without identifying someone. We then write up the themes in the written answers instead.
We also offer a limited number of in-depth review sessions, of about an hour, to walk through what the report says and what to do about it. If you book one, it helps if the people who will act on the findings can join.
